Structure beats guesswork. Use this simple loop:

  1. Set a focus (10–15 mins): e.g., smooth braking, gap selection, reverse parking.
  2. Drive a short route: start easy, add one new challenge.
  3. Reflect (2 mins): what went well? one thing to improve?
  4. Log it: record time, conditions, and today’s focus in your logbook.

Route ideas (mix & match)

  • Quiet streets → roundabouts → multi-lane roads
  • Car park manoeuvres → kerbside stops → reverse parallel park
  • Daytime → dusk → night (build gradually)

Skills to rotate

  • Observation routine (mirrors–signal–shoulder)
  • Speed control & safe following distance
  • Lane changes & merging
  • Hill starts and three-point turns
  • Hazard perception (scan far ahead; plan early)
